Tourney Information
The 2011 California State Youth Football & Cheer Championships is expected to bring out the very best youth football and cheer squads from the Western Region of the U.S. This is an AAU sanctioned event. There is no weight limit and divisions will be categorized by age (8<, 10<, 12<, 14<). In order for athletes to qualify for their respective team (8-and-under, 10-and-under, etc), they must be 8,10,12, or 14-years-of-age by July 31st prior to the season (please see AAU national rules).
Divisions of play:
By player age as of 7/31/11 without weight restrictions. The divisions for the CSYFCC 2011 "Best of the West" Championships is as follows:
Open Division can be the BEST from either the weighted format or unlimited.
Players are allowed to play up (1) class level.
As long as the athlete is 8, 10, 12, or 14 prior to July 31st they will qualify for their respective division.
Format
Teams will be selected based on season record and placed into Divisions 1 and 2. Teams will be paired with like records and the most competitive teams will compete for the title of AAU's California State Youth Football Champion in the 8<, 10<, 12<, 14<, and Open Division. The Open Division may pit teams who use the weighted (Pop Warner, AYF, JAAF, etc.) format or unlimited teams.
All helmets must meet current California youth football standards set by Amateur Athletic Union National Rules, American Youth Football & Cheer, Pop Warner Football & Cheer, Junior All American Youth Football & Cheer. All helmets must have current warning stickers and manufacturers equipment statements as when the helmet was originally issued. Any player attempting to participate in the Tournament in equipment deemed to be below standards or sub par will not be permitted to participate in said gear. Any player in equipment default will have to obtain gear meeting Tournament standards in order to participate.
Prior to games, teams will present to Tournament Staff the following gear for inspection: Helmet with mouthpiece attached, shoulder pads, rib pads (if necessary), arm pads (may not be altered from original state to the point of being considered impractical or dangerous) and cleats (screw-ins, quarter inch only or moulded allowed).
The following additional gear is permitted: Shoe spats, arm pads, wrist bands, skull caps. No jewelry of any type may be worn during a Tournament football game.
Game Offenses
Any player, fan, parent, or member an organization or of a coaching staff who is ejected from a Tournament game is automatically banned from the remainder of the Tournament and must leave the game site immediately. Any obstruction by a player, fan, parent, or member of an organization or of a coaching staff after ejection will subject their team to immediate Tournament forfeiture (without refund).
Authorized Sideline Personnel
Only pre authorized coaching staff may be on a teams side lines at any time. The Tournament authorizes the following for the definition of coaching staff:
Trainers (2)
Head Football Coach (1)
Assistant Coaches (up to 5)
NO TEAM PHOTOGRAPHERS WILL BE ALLOWED ONTO A PLAYING FIELD. Parents may not enter onto a playing field at any time. Authorized Press & Media passes will be issued by the Tournament Staff. No food or drinks are permitted onto the fields of play. All water and game hydration will be provided throughout the games for each competing team on both side lines.
